Diocesan Safe Environment Clearances

Corpus Christi is blessed with having more than 250 volunteers in our parish.  As you may be aware, every volunteer in the Diocese of Pittsburgh must obtain required diocesan clearances. 
Before you register to volunteer, it is important that you contact Cindy Parry at cindy@corpuschristipgh.org
The Clearances include:

1. PA State Criminal Clearance (which is obtained during the Diocesan registration)

2. PA Child Abuse Clearance

3. FBI clearance*

(*If you have lived in Pennsylvania ten years or longer with no criminal record, you may sign the FBI Waiver.  If you have lived in Pennsylvania less than ten years, or have a criminal record, you must obtain FBI fingerprint clearances.)

4. Protecting God’s Children Training**

        (**Protecting God’s Children training is valid for three years.  You will receive an email when you need to update this training.) 

5. Volunteers who work directly with the children will also need to take the Mandated Reporter Training

All clearances are valid for five years except for the Protecting God’s Children Training, which updates every three years.
If you receive notice from Cindy Parry (Corpus Christi Safe Environment Coordinator) stating that your clearances are due, please update them as soon as possible so that your clearances do not expire.

Attention All Volunteers

If you have changed your email, phone number, and/or address, please contact Cindy Parry (Corpus Christi Safe Environment Coordinator) so we can update your information in our Safe Environment database. 
If you no longer are volunteering, we can place your records in the inactive file.  (Your records will be archived but can be reinstated if you return to volunteering.)

Report Child Sexual Abuse

Diocesan Abuse Hotline: To report church-related abuse to the Diocese of Pittsburgh, call Victim Assistance Coordinator, 412-456-3093 or toll free at 1-888-808-1235. 

Please note that the diocesan hotline is staffed from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. If you leave a voicemail, your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Inform the supervisor or person in charge of your program that a report was made

To report abuse of a current minor, contact the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services ChildLine.  Reports may be made by phone or online.
